Profile of the Women Interviewed

We interviewed women who are resident in the regions that will be affected by the Interoceanic Corridor infrastructure project.

Their lives will be affected either through the modernization of the railway line, the construction of the future industrial parks or through natural resource extraction such as water and gravel from their lands in order to supply the planned development areas.

The level of negative impacts they experienced or feared different significantly. Some of them live very close to the current trainline and therefore face eviction and the possible loss of their homes.

We have interviewed 43 women from the southern Mexican states of Oaxaca (25) and Veracruz (18). (Date: October 2021)

AGE

Their ages ranged from 22 to 67.
